Scott Tucker Wins Again in Canada

Last weekend saw Level 5 Motorsports competing at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Ontario in the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix.  Once again, Scott Tucker took first place with co-driver Marino Franchitti in the LMP2 classification.

Franchitti clocked the fastest lap times in LMP2 for the race and managed to pull ahead in the final minutes of the race to finish 2nd overall and first in the LMP2 ahead of Extreme Speed drivers Scott Sharp/Guy Cosmo.  Level 5's second car, driven by Scott Tucker and Mike Conway finished third while Extreme Speed's Ed Brown/Johannes van Overbeek finished fourth.  It is notable that all the LMP2 cars finished ahead of the second place LMP1 car as well as all the LMPC competitors.

Mike Conway joined Tucker in the #552 car as a replacement for Ryan Briscoe.  Briscoe broke his wrist the week before when he crashed in the Honday Indy Toronto.  Briscoe hopes to return to Level 5 before the end of the ALMS season.

With five of the ten ALMS races completed, Level 5 holds onto their lead in the LMP2 classification and Franchitti and Tucker are ranked 1st and 2nd in the drivers' championship.

Franchitti was especially pleased with his victory, "This is one of my favorite circuits, and to win here after such a good race just makes it all the more special."

The next race is the Orion Energy Systems 245 which will be held at the Road America circuit (Elkhart Lake, WI) on August 9-11, 2013.

The 2013 American Le Mans Series continues next month with the Orion Energy Systems 245, August 9-11 at the four-mile Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. This will be a double-header weekend with the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, as the two North American endurance racing series continue preparations before merging into the United SportsCar Racing championship in 2014.
